Global construction and development firm Skanska has announced it was awarded the contract to lead construction for the new 371,000 square foot Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute in downtown Orlando. The combined inpatient and outpatient facility will be dedicated solely to the care of orthopedic patients. The Institute includes a newly planned eight-story building that will house 75 inpatient rooms and 10 operating rooms. An adjoining six-story medical office building will include two floors of ambulatory suites which will contain an added 12 ORs.
Designed by architecture firm EYP Architecture & Engineering, the medical pavilion and outpatient surgery center are set to be completed in late 2022 and the hospital has an anticipated completion by summer 2023. Upon its opening, the hospital is expected to add 500 jobs. As one of the only orthopedic-specific hospitals in the Southeast, the new facility will offer unparalleled comfort and ease for patients – from arrival through departure.
The total amount of the project is USD 187 million that will be awarded to Skanska for the construction of the Institute.
