Skanska has signed a contract with Trondheim Postgård DA, owned by Reitan AS, to build a new theatre and museum in Trondheim, Norway. The contact is worth NOK 410 million. The project is called Nye Hjorten Teater & Posten Modern Museum. Since January 2021, Skanska has been working in close collaboration with the customer, architect, and consultants in the development phase of the project.The project is a combination of rehabilitation and conversion of the old post office building in Trondheim into a museum, and a newly built theatre closely connected to the post office building. Skanska’s customers vision for the project is to develop a cultural quarter as a gift to the city of Trondheim.Construction is expected to start in august 2022 and the project will be completed in June 2024.
