Skanska has signed a contract with Network Rail for its replacement bridge project in the West Midlands region, UK. The contract is worth GBP 52 million. Skanska will replace the SAS13 bridge on the Stechford to Aston rail line to the east of Birmingham. The existing bridge comprising eight masonry arches and a central steelwork span, will be demolished, and replaced with a single 92 meter span steel structure. The works will pave the way for the construction of the new High Speed 2 line approach into Birmingham City centre, as well as the planned High Speed 2 Midlands Maintenance Depot.

Skanska will begin work December 2020 and is scheduled to complete September 2022.
