Greybrook Realty Partners is partnering with New York-based developer Property Markets Group and Hilton to bring the luxury Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts to Miami, the first in the city. In addition to housing a five-star hotel, the property will also have private residences, retail components and is expected to become a top culinary destination for the South Florida city. The 1,049 foot-high innovative development set to transform Miami’s skyline was designed by architect Sieger Suarez and conceptual architect Carlos Ott. The 100-storey, 320m-high Waldorf Astoria Hotel and Residences, to be built on Biscayne Boulevard in downtown Miami, will be the state’s first “supertall” building, meaning it exceeds 300m in height. The tower has been designed by Uruguayan architect Carlos Ott, who is based in Canada and is known for projects such as the Bastille Opera House in Paris. His design splits the tower into cubes, each of which is slightly offset from the one below, creating an impression of precarious balance.
