<p>Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG has been awarded the contract to build the extended shell of the third block for thermal waste utilisation at the Rothensee waste-to-energy plant in Magdeburg in Germany. The client is Müllheizkraftwerk Rothensee GmbH. The contract value is EUR 30 million (of which 50 per cent for Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau). </p><p>The project will be delivered by consortium Arge MHKW Rothensee, formed by Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau AG, Northern Division, and Matthäi. The waste inceneration plant Rothensee is operational since 2005 and located just outside the city of Magdeburg (the capital of Saxony-Anhalt in east-central Germany; it lies along the Elbe River, southwest of Berlin). Currently, MHKW Rothensee can convert approximately 650,000 of household waste into electricity and district heating every year.</p><p>Construction will start in October 2021 and completion will be in spring 2024. Wayss & Freytag Ingenieurbau also built the first two blocks of the Rothensee plant between 2002 and 2007.</p>
