MOL Orders 4 LNG Fueled Car Carriers

Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd announced that it reached an agreement with Shin Kurushima Dockyard Co Ltd and Nihon Shipyard Co Ltdto build

Mitsui OSK Lines Ltd announced that it reached an agreement with Shin Kurushima Dockyard Co Ltd and Nihon Shipyard Co Ltdto build four 7,000-unit capacity car carriers using environment-friendly liquefied natural gas as their main fuel. The vessels are slated for delivery in succession starting in 2024.

Compared to conventional marine fuel oil, LNG is expected to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide which is a greenhouse gas, by about 25-30%, sulfur oxide SOx by 100%, and nitrogen oxide NOx by about 85%.
