In June 2021, the FSUE "Rosmorport" North-Western Basin Branch began scheduled repair dredging works in the water area of the seaport of Ust-Luga. As part of the dredging program for 2021, it is planned to carry out repair excavation in water area of the southern region of the seaport of Ust-Luga, on the approach channel to the mouth of the Luga River, in the water area of the complex for the transshipment of liquefied hydrocarbon gases and the container terminal of the seaport of Ust-Luga.

In 2021, during dredging, it is planned to extract and export to authorized burial areas more than 200.6 thousand cubic meters of bottom soil. According to the results of dredging works in the area of their implementation, navigation depths will be brought to design values from -5 to 12.8 meters in the water area of the southern region, from -5.5 to -7.2 meters on the approach channel to the mouth of the Luga River and to -13.5 meters in the water area of the container terminal of the seaport of Ust-Luga.

For dredging operations, the own dredging equipment of the enterprise is used: the single scoop-bucket (dipper) dredger Waka Nami Go and the self-propelled dredging barge Fort, as well as dredging vessels of the third-party contracting organizations are involved.

All dredging operations are carried out by the North-Western Basin Branch in strict accordance with the approved design documentation "Environmental justification of economic activities to maintain design depths in the water areas and channels of the seaport of Ust-Luga in 2016-2026". The environmental justification is agreed upon in accordance with the established procedure with the competent state bodies and has a positive conclusion from the state environmental examination, approved by order of the Rosprirodnadzor No. 656 as of 10.10.2016.

Excavated bottom soil is exported to a soil underwater landfill in the area of the Valstein Bank of the Luga Bay of the Gulf of Finland for further storage in accordance with the permit from 28.11.2016 No. 97М issued by Rosprirodnadzor for the burial in the internal sea of the bottom soil excavated during dredging.
