Aluminium Stewardship Initiative announced that China Hongqiao Group as been certified against the ASI Performance Standard at its subsidiary Shandong Hongchuang Aluminum Industry Holding and its subsidiaries Binzhou Hongbo Aluminum Foil Technology, Zouping Hongcheng Aluminum Technology and Zouping Hongzhuo Aluminum. The companies’ main products are aluminum sheets and strips, household foils, container foils, blister foil, decorative foils, etc., which are widely used in food and pharmaceutical packaging, architectural decoration, transportation and other fields. The companies have an annual production capacity of 200,000 tonnes of roll-casting plate, 200,000 tonnes of cold rolled plate and 120,000 tonnes of foils.The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Environment, Social, and Governance, which address key issues such as biodiversity, labour rights, Indigenous Peoples rights, and greenhouse gas emissions.The independent, third-party audits of Shandong Hongchuang Aluminum Industry Holding and its three subsidiary operations was carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd.
