Aluminium Stewardship Initiative announced that Crown Holdings, Inc. has been successfully certified against the ASI Performance Standard for responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium for the Crown Mexico division’s can body production plants at Crown Ensenada, Crown Guadalajara, Crown Toluca and Crown Latas Monterrey as well as for aluminium can ends and roll-on pilfer proof closures production at Crown Cierres Monterrey and Headquarters at Crown Cierres Monterrey in Mexico.The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Governance, Environment and Social, which address key issues such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples rights, and greenhouse gas emissions.The independent, third-party audit of the Crown Mexico plants and Corporate Office was carried out by DNV Business Assurance Services UK Ltd.
