Aluminium Stewardship Initiative announced that Hammerer Aluminium Industries has been certified against the ASI Performance Standard for responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium. The certification is for the production of extruded aluminium profiles, aluminium profiles fabricated and surface-treated, components made of aluminium fabricated/welded and aluminium composite profiles, thermally insulated, at HAI’s Ranshofen Austria facility. The company’s extruded products are destined primarily for use in the transportation, building and construction and industrial sectors. The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard V2 defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Governance, Environment and Social, which address key issues such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples rights, and greenhouse gas emissions. ASI launched a revised Performance Standard in 2022.The independent, third-party audit of the HAI Extrusion GmbH facility was carried out by TÜV Rheinland Cert GmbH.
