<p>Aluminium Stewardship Initiative announced that SAV SpA has been successfully certified against ASI Performance Standard for responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium. SAV SpA has achieved ASI Performance Standard Certification for the processing and remelting of raw materials and metal scrap in the production of aluminium alloy ingots at the Colombo and dell’Artigianato facilities in Italy. The production capacity of the SAV SpA plants is of 100,000 tonnes per year. The company’s alloy ingots are produced by maximising the recycling of aluminium for the production of castings used in various industrial sectors, including automotive, household appliances, naval, aeronautical, building, industrial machinery, electrical, and the food industry.</p><p>The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI Performance Standard defines environmental, social and governance principles and criteria, with the aim to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain. It sets out 59 criteria under the three sustainability pillars of Governance, Environment and Social, which address key issues such as biodiversity, Indigenous Peoples rights, and greenhouse gas emissions.</p><p>The independent, third-party audit of the S.A.V. S.p.A facilities was carried out by Bureau Veritas Certification.</p>
