Aluminium Stewardship Initiative announced that Yunnan YunLv Yongxin Aluminium, part of the Chinalco Group and controlled by ASI Member Yunnan Aluminum Co, has been certified against the ASI Chain of Custody Standard. Yunnan YunLv Yongxin Aluminium Co achieved ASI Chain of Custody Standard V1 (2017) Certification at its aluminium smelting and casting operations in the Yangjie Industrial Park in Yunnan Province of China. The facility achieved Performance Standard Certification in September 2021.The facility has an annual production capacity of 300,000 tonnes of primary aluminium based on hydro power. The main products include electrolytic aluminium liquid, remelting aluminium ingot, casting aluminium alloy, and aluminium bar.The ASI Certification program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process and is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The ASI CoC Standard sets out requirements for the creation of a Chain of Custody for material that is produced and processed through the value chain into diverse downstream sectors. The implementation of ASI’s CoC Standard links verified practices at successive steps of the supply chain – certified under the ASI Performance Standard – to the products produced by ASI Certified Entities.The independent, third-party audit of the Yunnan YunLv Yongxin Aluminium operation was carried out by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services.
