Aluminium Stewardship Initiative announced that Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée has joined as a new Production and Transformation member, bringing the total number of ASI Members to 174. Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée is a world leader in the bauxite sector. It operates mines in the area of Sangarédi in the north-western part of the Republic of Guinea. CBG produces and exports over 16 million tons of higher-grade bauxite per year. Its shares are held by the Guinean State (49%) and by Halco (Mining) Inc. (51%), a company owned by some of the most respected international stakeholders in the industry. Safety and operational excellence are the company’s credo. CBG aligns its practices with some of the highest standards in the world in terms of health, safety, environmental and social standards, notably with those of the International Financial Company.
