India’s Ministry of Finance has imposed definitive anti-dumping duty on aluminium foil imports of thickness 80 microns and below from China, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia for five years. It ranges from USD 93.53 to USD 976.99 per tonne depending on the producer and country of export.Directorate General of Trade Remedies has recommendation in its final findings in June 2021 for levy of such duties. DGTR initiated the anti-dumping probe, following the receipt of the petition from Hindalco Industries, Jindal, and Raviraj Foils.The product aluminium foil is broadly used in food and pharmaceutical packaging. It is also used in aseptic packaging that succours in the storage of perishable goods without refrigeration. Foil is also used to wrap and protect delicate foods like vegetables.
