Hydro has welcomed the United Kingdom’s Trade Remedies Authority’s announcement of its intention to impose provisional antidumping duties on aluminium extrusions originating from China. The Trade Remedies Authority opened an antidumping investigation in June 2021. The investigation covered aluminium bars, rods, profiles, tubes and pipes that entered the UK market during the investigation period. The TRA has now found that the products under investigation have been sold into the UK market at prices below normal value, and that the dumping has caused injury to UK producers. Therefore, the TRA has pre-disclosed on May 20, 2022 its intention to impose provisional antidumping duties ranging between 9.5% and 128.2%.The provisional duties are expected to enter into force on May 28, 2022, but the TRA’s investigation will continue and the final decision is expected to be made within 6 months. At that point, the tariffs may be confirmed as definitive or modified and the tariffs are normally in place for 5 years.
