The US Aluminium Association has praised the United States Department of Commerce for their final ruling that some importers from Russia as well as four other different countries are dumping some aluminium foils on the American market. Aluminium Association President & CEO Mr Tom Dobbins said “Today’s decision is another sign that the United States is committed to combatting unfair trade through strong enforcement of international trade rules. These determinations bring domestic aluminium foil producers one step closer to securing relief from a second surge in unfairly-traded imports that hit the industry just as it was beginning to recover from an earlier wave of dumped foil from China.”On 17th September 2021, the Commerce Department revealed that aluminium foil experts from Russia, Armenia, Oman, Turkey, and Brazil have been filling up the US market with the below-market products. The commerce department imposed final countervailing and antidumping duties on some aluminium foil exporters. The duties imposed were in the range from 5.82-63.05%However, it is for the United States International Trade Commission’s to decide whether such imports caused material injury to domestic aluminium producers. The USITC revealed that they will be sharing a decision on the matter within a month.
