Bnamericas reported that Chile’s mining sector should grow between 2% and 3% this year and copper production may reach 5.8 million tonnes and mining exports should climb to USD 60 billion in 2022.National Mining Association Sonami’s Director Mr Álvaro Merino forecast that the Chilean economy would grow 2% this year compared with the estimated 12% achieved in 2021, albeit in comparison with the very low base of 2020. He said “However, the forecast could be negatively affected by factors including a stronger slowdown in China, the persistence of inflation, problems in supply chains and the spread of new COVID-19 outbreaks.”
