Turin's public transport is increasingly becoming greener thanks to the agreement between Enel X, the innovative business line of the Enel Group and the Autoguidovie Group, through the Cavourese company, which will collaborate to electrify part of the fleet by bus from the Piedmontese capital. Autoguidovie was awarded Lot 2 of the subcontract tender launched by Gruppo Torinese Trasporti Turin and identified Enel X as a strategic partner for the first Italian bus as a service project, with 14 e-buses and charging stations to fill up with energy to the vehicles. Bus as a service is the innovative solution developed by Enel X for the electrification of urban public transport which is based on the supply of energy per km traveled: customers purchase the electric km needed to cover the routes thus guaranteeing a supply efficient and sustainable service. The model also provides for the equipment and maintenance of vehicles, charging stations, electrical infrastructures in the cabin and depot, software for remote monitoring of charging operations to avoid peaks in energy consumption, as well as the entire financing of investments.Enel X Way, an Enel company dedicated to electric mobility, will take care of the installation and management of the 9 charging stations distributed over 2 depots and equipped with double sockets for recharging the e-buses that Cavourese will use along 8 city routes for a total of 832 thousand km per year. Thanks to the commitment of electric buses, the Piedmontese company will drastically reduce CO2 emissions: the new e-buses will in fact guarantee savings to the atmosphere of 5 thousand tons of CO2 per year, equal to the absorption capacity of 27 thousand trees equivalent to 30 soccer fields.
