In a progressive move towards sustainable transportation, the Grudziadz public transport operator has recently placed an order for 12 Solaris hybrid buses. The order comprises six vehicles from the basic order and an additional six under the option. These modern and eco-friendly buses will be delivered to Grudziadz, a city located along the Vistula River, later this year. The municipal transport operator, MZK Grudziądz, and Solaris Bus & Coach formalized the contract on 10th May, marking a significant step towards enhancing the city's public transport infrastructure. The Solaris Urbino 12 hybrid buses, characterized by their eco-friendliness and low-floor design, will be delivered and operational in Grudziadz by the end of 2023.Jakub Zakrzewski, Sales Director for the Northern Region in Poland at Solaris Bus & Coach, expressed pride in the enduring trust that Grudziadz has placed in the company for over two decades. Solaris has already deployed nearly 50 buses in the city, and an additional 17 zero-emission electric vehicles are currently being delivered. This new order will further expand the fleet of modern and ecological Solaris buses in Grudziadz, benefiting the city's public transport passengers. The Urbino 12 hybrid buses will feature a state-of-the-art hybrid drive system, consisting of a powerful 250 kW electric traction engine and a Euro 6-compliant internal combustion engine with a capacity of over 150 kW. Complementing the hybrid system, super-capacitors will store and utilize energy obtained from recuperation. This efficient hybrid drive system significantly reduces fuel consumption, lowering operational costs for the transport operator while minimizing harmful emissions into the atmosphere. Additionally, the buses will be equipped with a stop-and-go system, which shuts off the combustion engine completely when the vehicle is stationary at a bus stop with open doors. This innovative solution utilizes energy recovered during braking and stored in super-capacitors.The spacious and air-conditioned Urbino 12 hybrid buses will be equipped with USB ports and advanced monitoring systems. Each bus will have 25 seats, accommodating up to 80 passengers, providing a comfortable and convenient commuting experience.Solaris, as the leading European provider of low- and zero-emission buses, has positioned itself as the largest supplier of zero-emission public transport vehicles to Poland. The upcoming deployment of 17 Solaris Urbino electric buses in Grudziadz, following an order placed in April 2022, further solidifies Solaris's commitment to sustainable mobility and their contribution to a greener future.
