Japan’s Kawagoe City, Bushu Gas & Tokyo Gas have signed a comprehensive partnership agreement for decarbonized city development. This agreement aims to create a decarbonized city through mutual cooperation between Kawagoe City, Bushu Gas, and city gas wholesale supplier Tokyo Gas. Going forward, the three parties will decide on specific implementation details through regular discussions.Coordination of initiatives for decarbonized city developmentThings related to local production for local consumption of energyMatters concerning the procurement of low-carbon energy and its provision to public facilities, etcMatters related to energy optimization through utilization of energy data, etcMatters related to strengthening regional resilience, such as securing a stable supply of energyMatters related to value co-creation that creates new value and activities from the perspective of the regionEnlightenment activities to promote efforts toward decarbonized town development through environmental energy education and dietary educationReinforcement of support for professional human resources in efforts to create a decarbonized cityIn addition to the matters listed in the preceding items, matters related to the promotion of initiatives for decarbonized town developmentBased on this agreement, Kawagoe City, Bushu Gas, and Tokyo Gas will strengthen cooperation in various fields, including decarbonized urban development, and work toward the realization of a decarbonized society.In June 2021, the revised Law Concerning the Promotion of Measures to Cope with Global Warming will come into force, and local governments will be required to make efforts to realize a decarbonized society. We will promote efforts to prevent global warming while making use of our past experiences such as enacting the city's own ordinance on global warming countermeasures.
