Petrobras announced that a robot capable of reducing the exposure of firefighters in firefighting scenarios is already a reality. The prototype created by Unidroid was tested at the Henrique Lage Refinery in São José dos Campos Revap. The equipment also underwent tests at the Paulínia Refinery Replan. In addition to helping to preserve the safety of firefighters, the robot allows for a faster and more efficient response to emergencies. The equipment also allows access to places where it is not possible to use traditional combat vehicles. It is also resistant to high temperatures and can be controlled at distances of up to 600 meters, allowing firefighters to act far from the risk zone. Unidroid was included in the 2020 public notice of the Petrobras Connections for Innovation Program – Startups module. The technological application was developed especially for Petrobras and is the first in the world adapted for the oil and gas industry and for classified areas (with risk of flammable atmosphere).In 2023, Petrobras may already have the robots available for operation in the refineries. The prototype is also able to operate in an offshore area, with some modifications regarding the type of mat and materials due to the salinity of the platforms. Despite having been developed for Petrobras, the model can be sold to other industries and even used to fight fires in urban and forestry areas.
