Axpo has agreed the sale of its 66 MW wind farm in Bisaccia in Italy to country’s leading utilities Edison. The sale of the Bisaccia wind farm to Edison has received all necessary approvals from the relevant authorities, and is with immediate effect. The parties have agreed not to disclose any details regarding the sale price. Through its subsidiary WinBis, Axpo has been managing 22 Vestas V90 turbines in Bisaccia, in the Italian province of Avellino, each with an installed capacity of 3MW, since its commissioning in September 2012. The operating performance of the wind farm has been strong and stable ever since, with annual production averaging 98.5 GWh over the last six years and an average annual availability of 98.6%. The sale is consistent with Axpo's strategy of focussing on new growth initiatives. In pursuit of its ambitious goal to develop onshore wind farms and solar plants with an installed capacity of 3 GW and 10 GW respectively by 2030 internationally, Axpo’s strategy includes the continuous review of options to redistribute wind and PV assets across Europe and divest selected plants and shareholdings. This enables the company to redeploy the resulting financial resources in these key growth areas.
