ROSATOM announced that its machine building divison Atomenergomash’s Petrozavodsk Branch of AEM-Technologie and Karelian Regional Branch of the Russian Engineering have manufactured 4 guide vanes for Reactor Coolant Pump Set housings for power unit No 5 of Kudankulam NPP in India. Each guide vanes consists of upper and lower discs, between which 13 guide blades are welded. The vanes are fixed in the pump housing and designed to direct coolant flow inside the pump. Petrozavodskmash carried out welding operations for these items. The assembly units are to be machined afterwards.RCPS housing is a first safety class item. At a nuclear plant it ensures coolant circulation in the primary circuit and operates under pressure of 160 atmospheres and temperature of 300 degrees. The reactor plant equipment of one power unit includes four RCPS.Kudankulam NPP is a nuclear power plant equipped with VVER-1000 reactors which is located in the south of India in Tamil Nadu state.
