Russian nuclear power giant ROSATOM announced that the last of the four steam generators has been installed in the reactor building of Kursk NPP-2 power unit 1 in Russia. The installation of steam generators was carried out by Kursk Branch of Energospetsmontazh. The installation of steam generators is an important stage in the creation of the reactor primary circuit system. It opens up a possibility to start the installation of the reactor vessel of the first power unit in the nearest future and the installation of the main coolant pipelineThe steam generator is a heat exchanger with a length of 15 meters and a weight of 355 tonnes. It is designed to produce steam supplied to a turbo generator to convert thermal power into electric power.The Kursk Nuclear Power Plant is located in western Russia on the bank of the Seym River about 40 kilometers west of the city of Kursk. The nearby town of Kurchatov was founded when construction of the plant began. The plant feeds the grid for Kursk Oblast and 19 other regions.
