Sweco is Technical Adviser for North Sea Energy Island
Sweco has been chosen by the Danish Energy Agency as technical adviser to establish the world’s first energy island. The contract will run for four years and has a value of approximately EUR 6.7 million. It is one year since a broad majority in the Danish Parliament signed a climate agreement for energy and industry, which means, among other things, that Denmark will establish an energy island. On 4 February this year, it was decided that the energy island should be established as a contained island in the North Sea.
The energy island will be able to serve offshore wind farms with a capacity of 3 GW with the option of expansion to 10 GW at a later stage and will become the largest offshore wind farm in Denmark.
