Airbus recently achieved a significant milestone with the successful delivery of its inaugural A321neo from the ultra-modern A320 Family Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Toulouse. This aircraft, designated for operation by Pegasus Airlines, reinforces Airbus' commitment to meeting the surging global demand for the A321neo, constituting nearly 65% of the A320 Family order backlog.
Distinguished as the largest member of the Airbus A320neo Family, the A321neo boasts exceptional range and performance. Outfitted with next-generation engines and Sharklets, this aircraft substantially reduces noise by 50% and slashes fuel burn and CO₂ emissions by over 20% compared to earlier single-aisle aircraft models. Its expansive single-aisle cabin prioritizes passenger comfort, distinguishing it as the broadest in its class. The demand for the A321neo has resulted in over 5,600 orders from more than 100 customers globally.
Pegasus Airlines, Türkiye's prominent low-cost carrier, currently operates a fleet of 93 Airbus aircraft, comprising 6 A320ceo, 46 A320neo, and 41 A321neo models. Additionally, the airline has 68 A321neos on order, further underlining its commitment to Airbus' innovative lineup.
The aircraft handover to Pegasus Airlines signifies the commencement of the Toulouse FAL's increased production capacity. Collaborating with existing A320 Family FALs in Hamburg (Germany), Mobile (USA), and Tianjin (China), Airbus aims to achieve the production milestone of 75 A320 Family aircraft per month by 2026.
