The Chhattisgarh Council of Science and Technology Raipur has inked a MoU with the Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminum Research, Development and Design Center to evaluate bauxite reserves in the state. As part of this project, both the institutes will prepare a district-wise digital database of laterite and bauxite deposits using geo referenced maps and conduct geotechnical assessment of bauxite and laterite deposits located in Chhattisgarh with space technology.The project will be extremely beneficial for aluminum industry facing shortage of good grade raw ore of bauxite and also for the mining companies and industries using aluminum in various forms and processes. The database obtained from the state's new remote sensing technology and GIS can be used in any existing mining companies and aluminum industries.In addition to the entrepreneurs dealing in bauxite and laterite ores, the existing mine owners and bauxite industries in Chhattisgarh and central India will also benefit.
