Metso Corporation announced the successful acquisition of a significant order for crucial concentrator plant equipment for Zijin Mining Group's Julong copper project in the Tibetan Autonomous region. The order's value stands at approximately EUR 85 million, with 40% of it recorded in Minerals' first-quarter 2023 order intake and the remaining portion in the second quarter.The comminution circuit to be installed at the Julong project is set to be one of China's most powerful, boasting cutting-edge technology. It will comprise a SuperiorTM MKIII primary gyratory crusher, a high-power geared PremierTM SAG mill, a gearless mill drive (GMD) PremierTM ball mill with an impressive installed power of 24 MW, and four Nordberg® HP900™ cone crushers. Additionally, Metso will supply 24 TankCell® e630 flotation cells, five HRT High Rate Thickeners, and two Larox® FFP2512 filters to ensure efficient and sustainable concentrate separation. Remarkably, most of the equipment included in this order aligns with Metso's Planet Positive offering, known for its superior energy and water efficiency.Notably, the delivery encompasses a gearless mill drive (GMD) ball mill, the first of its kind in China and the most powerful ball mill ever manufactured. The TankCells® and High Rate Thickeners being supplied are high-capacity equipment that reduces embedded carbon and enhances overall plant availability. Among them, two thickeners, each with a diameter of 100 meters, will be dedicated to tailings management.
