European aluminium alloys producer Raffmetal and Cromodora Wheels have signed a contract to develop, test, and patent an innovative high-performance primary alloys wheels from recycling. By maximising recycled content within the alloy, Cromodora will produce aluminium wheels of primary alloy from recycling, which will allow a 95 per cent reduction in energy consumption and 89 per cent decrease in CO2 emissions. The aim is to offer the market a wide range of alloy wheels in response to the growing demand of automotive manufacturers that strive to reduce emissions during production by utilising materials derived from recycling. The alloys will be produced in the Special Alloys plant in Vobarno and will be destined for the Cromodora Wheels plants. Both the companies expect that their new innovative wheels will be market sustainable products, with a low carbon footprint, circular and with total control of the entire supply chain: from scrap to finished product.
