A Brooklyn-based company, 72 Steel, has announced plans to build a state-of-the-art steel manufacturing plant in Aliquippa. According to the company's website, the plant will use "the world's most advanced steel production technology, with an annual output of 500,000 short tons of high-end steel production capacity. The company plans to invest $218 million in the nearly 44-acre site, which was formerly the location of the Jones & Laughlin/LTV steel mill. Company officials have toured the site and met with local officials, noting that the site has convenient transportation, developed railways, highways, waterways, and abundant power supply.
