Chinese media reported that a major fire broke out at State-backed Bao Gang United Steel plant in China's Inner Mongolia region on 14 March morning killing seven. The accident happened during maintenance at a pellet desulphurisation facility that belongs to the steelmaker and operated by Shandong Guoshun Construction Group Co. Local government is investigating the cause of the incident & it is unclear that how the accident has impacted the production and operation plant with pellet capacity of 5 million tonnes per year.Baogang Group, founded in 1954, is a major steel production base in North China and the largest rare earth industrial base in the world. It has two listed companies, Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel Union Co Ltd and Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel Rare-Earth Hi-Tech Co Ltd. The Baogang Group, which boasts a strategic alliance with Baoshan Iron & Steel, is located in Bayan Obo mining district. Bao Gang has an annual steel capacity of over 15 million tonnes per year
