In a recent development, Adani Gangavaram Port has vehemently refuted the accusations put forth by employees of the Visakhapatnam steel plant. The workers claimed that the port failed to deliver the essential commodities of coal and limestone, which were being imported specifically for the Vizag Steel Plant. In a strongly-worded statement released on Thursday, the Gangavaram Port management asserted its dedication to conducting business with utmost responsibility and forging trust with all stakeholders involved. As a conscientious corporate entity, the port had diligently continued to provide cargo handling services to Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited, despite facing significant delays in payments and an accumulation of outstanding dues over the past six months, amounting to an exorbitant sum.“Our association with RINL is of paramount importance to us, and we have persevered in extending our services, even in the face of an increasingly untenable situation,” the management clarified. Furthermore, the port expressed its admiration for RINL as a respected Public Sector Undertaking and made an earnest appeal to its leadership to honor their commitments by settling the pending dues promptly. This, the port management emphasized, would be crucial in ensuring the continued viability of cargo handling operations at the port.Addressing the allegations levelled by certain unions, the port management categorically declared them as baseless and without merit. Moreover, the management went on to assert that the Adani Group had no vested interest whatsoever in the privatization process of RINL, thereby dismissing any insinuation of undue influence or ulterior motives.
