Italian technology supplier AIC has been selected by Acindar of Arcelor Mittal Group for an improvement on the evacuation and cold shears area of its rolling mill Fenicsa in Argentina, after the successful collaboration in revamping intervention of the three high rolling stand that was carried out on the same site a few years back. The modernization project will lead to a rethinking of the whole layout. Therefore, the material evacuation process will be enhanced by replacing the current shears with Birdsboro solutions, putting on magnetic rollers, encoders, new barriers, widening the existing cooling bed exit and adding eight variable frequency drives on the roller tables.The new configuration is also intended to establish the control logic that goes from the oscillating arms to the packaging area included, using the existing ABB AC800 PLC with an updated software version through an improved failover handling.In addition, the supply scope also includes all necessary modifications on the screen of the existing HMI-SCADA.The AIC Group will install the equipment and adapt the automation system as well as will be providing on-site assistance to ensure a valuable hot and cold start-up. The new solution will increase the reliability and flexibility of the entire area.
