The national water resources infrastructure system is also key for steel companies to move finished steel products to their customers and to end users in the market,” Dempsey said. “In addition to authorizing 25 new water projects, the bill is critical to the ongoing modernization of the Soo Locks in Michigan, through which nearly all of the iron ore used for American steel production is shipped. This and many other provisions of the bill are significant to the timely construction of important water infrastructure projects which are critical to the steel industry and our customers. We urge the Senate to pass this measure as soon as possible.”
