Moreover, U.S. raw steel production witnessed a decline of 6.2 percent, standing at 94.7 million net tons in 2022.Notably, the report highlights a 2.0 percent decrease in total steel imports into the United States compared to the previous year. However, finished steel imports experienced an 11.0 percent increase during the same period, capturing a 24 percent share of apparent steel consumption. The construction and automotive sectors maintained their positions as the leading end-use markets for U.S. steel product shipments.
