Ace Steel was founded in 1992 as a steel distributor serving the Roanoke Valley in Virginia. This asset purchase will allow Alro to grow our customer base while providing improved service for cut-to-size metals and plastics. Ace Steel’s customers will now have access to Alro’s vast inventory including aluminum, carbon steel, stainless steel, tool steel, cast iron, red metals, alloys, and plastics. Alro Steel will continue to service customers out of the Ace Steel Virginia location at 2200 Buford Ave SW in Roanoke.Alro Steel was founded in 1948 in a small garage in Jackson in Michigan. The name "Al-Ro" was derived from the first two letters from brothers Al & Robert Glick. Al began the company during a steel shortage in the 1940's which was due to the military demands of World War II. Al found a niche matching up companies with steel needs to companies with excess steel. Alro Steel stocks metals, industrial supplies and plastics in over 70 locations in 12 states in US.
