ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih announced that the largest blast furnace, which was stopped at the beginning of the war or safety of the workers, as well as due to energy risks and a difficult situation with the sale of products, is in the process of conservation. In other words it is being prepared for winter. It said “Today, the main task of the blast furnaces is to dewater all the water pipes, so that during frosts, excess moisture does not damage the cooling system of the metallurgical unit. We are doing this procedure for the first time, as such a large blast furnace has never been idle for so long. The dehydration process is long and is carried out in two stages. At first, the water was blown out with the help of compressed air, now there is a struggle with condensate. All 1,014 blast furnace refrigerators and a complex of air heaters have been blown out, more than 50 kilometers of pipelines have been dewatered. In general, this process will last until the end of October." It added “During the forced downtime of the blast furnace, we started repairing the right granulator. It is needed to maintain its further stable operation until the beginning of the overhaul of the 1st stage of the blast furnace. Special wells, water collectors-dewaters are restored at the grand installation, so that after blowing the furnace, all the equipment works without accidents. Also, the support beams of the building's floor, work platforms, and stairs between floors are being repaired. There are plans to repair large units inside the dewatered, the roof of the building with water gutters, etc.” It also said “Active preparation for the heating season continues at the production facilities of the blast furnace No 9 complex. In the workshop, centralized heating systems are checked, buildings and structures are insulated, additional heaters and UFO lamps are purchased.”
