
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih CEO Mr Mauro Longobardo said “Production performance in 2020, an extremely tough year for the business, turned to be better compared to the pessimistic forecasts. Production level hot metal, steel, rolled products went down considerably, but we managed to get high performance of ore mining and shipment of iron ore concentrate. I am sure that 2020 has become a turning point for ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih on its way to capacities upgrade and eco-transformation.”

Ore mining - 25.6 million tonnes, up 4% YoY
Concentrate - 10.7 million tonnes, up 9% YoY
Sintering - 9.0 million tonnes, down 8% YoY
Coke - 2.6 million tonnes, down 7% YoY
Hot metal - 4.9 million tonnes, down 8% YoY
Steel - 4.7 million tonnes, down 11% YoY
Rolled products - 4.3 million tonnes, down 9% YoY
The company successfully mastered the production of new sections at the light section mill No 3. Through this, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih optimized operation and shut down the light section mill No 1.
ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih fulfilled promises as for environmental commitments, twin hearth furnace No 6 in open-hearth shop was shut down and the first blooming area was decommissioned.
Besides that, we continue to upgrade the main technological machines. For example, a large-scale reconstruction of the second sinter shop is ongoing.
Last year, the shell of blast furnace No 9, the furnace of wire rod mill No 1, boiler No 4 of TPP No 2, blast furnace No 7 were repaired.
In 2020, the continuous casting machines No. 2, 3 achieved their designed production parameters. Because of this outdated mill 1250 at the blooming was shut down.
A key milestone in company’s development was that ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih launched a project for pellet plant construction, a state of the art facility. With the pellet plant working, the environmental situation in the city and the region will improve.
