ArcelorMittal, the proprietor of Ukraine's largest steel producer ArcelorMittal Krivoi Rog , has made the decision to eliminate the planned pellet plant in Krivoi Rog from its esteemed strategic projects list, reports InterfaxIn the recently released second quarter and half-year 2023 report, ArcelorMittal stated, “The previously announced strategic capex envelope has now been revised to reflect change of scope and inflation to the Liberia and Monlevade projects whilst the Ukraine pellet plant project previously on hold has been removed from the strategic capex envelope.”AMKR's CEO, Mr. Mauro Longobardo, had previously informed reporters in the summer of 2021 about the ongoing efforts to construct a new pellet plant in collaboration with China's Sinosteel. The project's target was to achieve completion by the end of 2023 or early 2024.It was projected that the plant would yield up to an impressive 5 million metric tons of pellets annually, with significant investments estimated at over $250 million.
