Chinese steel giant BaoSteel announced that Sinosteel’s Zimasco Ferrochrome’s Submerged Arc Furnace No 1 in Zimbabwe was ignited and put into operation in 2022. After the completion of the project, it would be jointly operated by the two parties, with a designed annual output of 87,600 tonnes of ferrochrome. Upgrade of No 2 furnace is expected to be completed by the end of March.At present, the supply of electricity and raw materials of Zimasco is stable, and all 5 ferrochrome furnaces are in full production, achieving a good start to 2023.
