At the headquarters of the Federacciai trade association, Consorzio Elettrosiderurgici Italiani per il Preridotto and of DRI d'Italia have signed a framework agreement aimed at the green transition of the Italian steel sector and the achievement of the European objectives for the reduction of climate-changing emissions by verifying the opportunities for cooperation relating to the construction of production, marketing and sales plants of direct reduced iron.The collaboration agreement provides that DRI d'Italia, the company controlled by Invitalia, is entrusted with the task and the related economic resources to build direct reduced iron plants, powered by hydrogen, in order to support the Decarbonisation process of the Italian iron and steel sector. Once in production, DRI d'Italia will be made available to the members of CEIP, a consortium promoted by Federacciai and made up of Italian steel producers who use arc furnacesThe agreement also contemplates cooperation aimed at identifying innovative technological solutions for the production and transformation of ferrous material to be used in the iron and steel industry.
