Sponsored by China Iron & Steel Association and undertaken by Ouyeel, the launching ceremony of the iron ore & steel Environmental Product Declaration the centralized release ceremony of the steel EPD took place on 11 January 2022. 6 iron ore EPDs were released globally and 20 steel EPDs were successfully released in a centralized manner, which marked a new step for the iron and steel industry EPD program. This iron ore EPD is the first in the world, providing a Chinese solution for evaluating the low-carbon properties of iron ore.Since its establishment and operation for 7 months, the iron and steel industry EPD platform has become the first professional platform which has been launched and successfully operated in China's industrial field. So far, it has completed 35 reports from nearly 10 domestic iron and steel enterprises. The products cover hot-rolled plates, coated plates, H-shaped steel, wire rod, stainless steel, iron ore etc. The EPD platform of the steel industry, as an important platform for high-quality environmental performance evaluation of the steel industry chain, focuses on steel products, and expands the upstream iron ore industry to help the low-carbon development and green transformation, and helps downstream enterprises to obtain accurate environmental information of upstream iron ore materials to achieve green procurement. Through the evaluation of product life cycle environmental performance, it will help enterprises to formulate and achieve a more scientific carbon reduction roadmap.
