According to the latest data released by China’s General Administration of Customs, China's iron ore imports in August picked up for the first time in five months while Chinese finished steel exports fell for the second successive month in August 2021Iron Ore - China imported 97.49 million tonnes of iron ore in August 2021 up 10.2% MOM as compared with 88.51 million tonnes imported in July but was down 2.9% from 100.36 million in August 2020. Iron ore imports into China decreased by 1.7% YoY to 746 million tonnes in the January-August period of 2021.Steel Export – Chinese Steel exports were down by 10.9% from July to 5.05 million tonnes, or the second lowest this year. Over January-August, China's finished steel exports grew 31.6% on year to 48.1 million tonnes. Steel Import - China imported 1.063 million tonne of finished steel, down 52.5% YoY while up 1.3% MoM. In the January-August period this year, China imported 9.46 million tonne of finished steel, down 22.4% YoY
