Article:

In a remarkable display of resilience, Donalam SRL, a subsidiary of AFV Beltrame Group, has solidified its position in the steel market. Despite challenging economic conditions that have impacted various industries, Donalam reports robust sales exceeding 155,000 metric tons of rebar and quality steel products during the initial nine months of 2023.

Operating across two facilities in Călărași and Târgoviște, with an impressive workforce of nearly 1000 employees, Donalam has etched its mark on the local market. The company's success is underpinned by ongoing investments exceeding 30 million euros in 2023, focused on the modernization of its facilities. These investments are not only geared towards bolstering Donalam's local market standing but also towards reinstating Romania as a major player in European steel production.

Just one year after resuming rebar sales in October 2022, Donalam achieved a substantial 24% local rebars market share, establishing itself as the sole producer of rebar in the Romanian market. Simultaneously, Donalam's production of special steel products in both Călărași and Târgoviște has fortified the company's position in the broader European steel market.

Carlo Beltrame, Group Business Development Manager, and CEO for France and Romania, emphasized Donalam's commitment to high-quality products, responsible production, and decarbonization. Despite intense competition in a volatile business environment, Donalam's distinct quality in both finished products and services has garnered recognition in the market.

The Târgoviște plant, which resumed rebar production in June 2022 following the acquisition of the former COS Târgoviște, boasts a rebar production capacity of approximately 15,000 metric tons per month. The company aims to elevate this capacity to around 58,000 metric tons per month, equivalent to over 600,000 metric tons per year. This expansion will enable Donalam to meet nearly half of Romania's domestic rebar requirements for construction projects.

Dan Cheroiu, Sales Director at Donalam, highlighted the significance of local production in reducing reliance on imports and promoting long-term sustainable economic growth, especially in the face of global uncertainties.

Before Donalam's resurgence in rebar production in Târgoviște, Romania heavily depended on imports to meet domestic market demand. The shift toward high-quality, locally sourced rebar not only aims to reduce import dependence but also integrates sustainability elements to address Romania's specific seismic risks.

Conclusion:

Donalam SRL, a subsidiary of AFV Beltrame Group, has shown impressive resilience in the steel market, achieving sales of over 155,000 metric tons of rebar and quality steel products in the first nine months of 2023. Despite economic challenges, Donalam secured a 24% local market share and aims to position Romania as a major European steel producer through substantial investments and modernization. This success underscores the importance of local production for sustainable economic growth.
