Turkish long steel producer Ekinciler Demir ve Çelik San AS is one step closer to being a value added steel producer with its new billet caster in Iskenderun district of Hatay, which will enable the company to produce higher-quality billet. Ekinciler Iron and Steel Industry Chief Executive Officer Mr Haluk Ekinci said “The epidemic has greatly reduced the investment appetite throughout the country. However, we have completed the first phase of our transformation investments, which will increase our market share and bring us new customers in this stagnant period, before entering the second half of 2020.” Mr Ekinci said “Our main target in this first stage investment was to increase the production capacity. We have more than reached the production increase that we targeted after the investment. Our second goal was to have a production opportunity, including closed casting technology. Except for the construction steel quality, in the 10.5 m radius billet casting machine we have just established; low and high carbon wire rod used in manufacturing such as electrodes, bolts, mesh and fine wire; We started to produce billets for the production of hot drawn pipes and all kinds of angles, IPN, HBN profiles.” Mr Ekinci added “This investment we made in 2020 was the first stage of our transformation investments. In the coming period, we will continue our investments to provide our customers with higher quality products and services by adding new products with higher quality and added value to our production range.
