Turkish ENKA’s subsidiary Çimtaş Steel has improved its own wind tower production records with capacity increases at its facilities to meet near-term demands in the industry. Having renewed its wind tower production record with 42,000 tonnes at Gemlik Premises and 58,000 tonnes at the Çimtaş Shipyard located in the Kocaeli Free Trade Zone, Çimtaş Steel reached 100,000 tonnes in 2022 and reinforced its position as the main player in the sector in the European region.While 90% of the production was exported, shipments were mainly made to Northern and Western European countries.ENKA said “In line with the world’s search for sustainable energy sources and carbon emission reduction targets, the inevitable rise of wind energy has manifested itself in 2022.”Çimtaş is a leading provider of integrated engineering, procurement, welded fabrication, assembly and installation solutions for top-tier global customers. Incorporated in 1973 as a fully owned subsidiary of ENKA, Çimtaş consists of 7 production shops, six in Turkey and one in China with an aggregated annual fabrication capacity of 340,000 tonnes.Founded by the late Mr Şarık Tara and his brother in-law the late Mr Sadi Gülçelik in 1957, ENKA İnşaat ve Sanayi AŞ is a global engineering and construction firm headquartered in Istanbul in Türkey.
