Local media reported that 2 people were hurt after a gas leak sparked an explosion at the US Steel Corps facility in Ecorse in state of Michigan in US. Both people hurt were employees. The incident was in the main plant boiler at Great Lakes Works. US Steel spokeswoman Ms Amanda Malkowski said "At this point, there do not appear to be any life-threatening injuries. We are currently assessing the situation and will provide updates as they become available. We thank the local fire crews for their assistance."Ecorse Deputy Police Chief Jerry Flowers said teams are trying to turn off the valve that supplies natural gas to the part of the plant where the explosion occurred.Day-to-day operations are continuing at the facilityUS Steels Great Lakes Works, situated along the Detroit River in the communities of Ecorse and River Rouge in Michigan, contains both steelmaking and finishing facilities that manufacture hot-rolled, cold-rolled and coated sheet steels that are used primarily by customers in the automotive industry.
