Last year, Brazilian steel maker Gerdau’s Peruvian subsidiary Siderperu announced a net profit of USD 84 million for 2021, the highest in its history, an increase of 167% from 2020. The increase reflects an EBITDA 105% higher at USD 147 million and sales 61% higher at USD 626 million.</p> <p>With an investment of USD 20 million this year, the company is expected to increase its production capacity by 100,000 tonnes, from an estimated 750,000 tonnes per year of crude steel.</p> <p>Siderperu was founded in 1956 in Chimbote city in Peru. The steel complex is set in a 600 hectares large site and includes a blast furnace, the only one in Peru, and several electric arc furnaces. Since its foundation the company is the largest in its sector in Peru and caters to infrastructure & manufacturing sector by supplying rebar, sections, plates & tubes</p>
