Global Crude Steel Production Slips in July’21 on Chinese Curbs

World Steel Association announced that global crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to worldsteel was 161.7 million tonnes

World Steel Association announced that global crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to worldsteel was 161.7 million tonnes in July 2021, a 3.3% decrease as compared to July 2020. As a result, global crude steel production in January-July 2021 surged by 12.4% YoY to 1165.3 million tonnes

⦁ China – 86.8 million tonne, down by 8% YoY & 649.3 million tonne in Jan-Jul, up by 8% YoY

⦁ India - 9.8 million tonne, up by 13% YoY & 68.0 million tonne in Jan-Jul, up by 29% YoY

⦁ Japan - 8.0 million tonne in June, up by 32% YoY & 56.1 million tonne in Jan-Jul, up by 16% YoY

⦁ United States - 7.5 million tonne, up by 38% YoY & 49.5 million tonne in Jan-Jul, up by 18% YoY

⦁ Russia - 6.7 million tonne, up by 13% YoY & 44.9 million tonne in Jan-Jul, up by 9% YoY

⦁ South Korea - 6.1 million tonne, up by 11% YoY & 41.3 million tonne in Jan-Jul, up by 9% YoY

⦁ Germany - 3.0 million tonne, up by 25% YoY & 23.6 million tonne in Jan-Jul, up by 19% YoY
