Leading Latin American steel maker Tenaris has brought to life a hydroponic greenhouse built by final year students in Argentina that participate in its Technical Gene educational program. The greenhouse is now fully operational with young people with disabilities, managed by NGO Casa Esperanza, on staff to help with the facility’s activities. The greenhouse, a one-of-a-kind facility in Argentina, presents a high level of technology, it automatically regulates the circulation of water, the indoors atmosphere, temperature and sunlight. It also creates and promotes employment opportunities for people with disabilities.In addition to its innovative design, the project has a robot that eases the harvesting work for people with reduced mobility. Also, with the help of artificial intelligence, it can detect and prevent the development of pests in crops.Hydroponics is a simple, clean and low-cost cultivation method that is adaptable to any space to produce fast-growing food without the need of fertilizers and agrochemicals.
